Snow has come…

In usual, Sakata has less snow than other parts of Yamagata. Strong wind blows off snow clouds. But this year heavy snow has started from this area.

A small park near my apartment.

Mt. Chokai

Mt. Chokai, a few days ago…
Mt. Chokai is called “Dewa Fuji”. “Dewa” is an ancient name for Yamagata and Akita Prefecture. “Fuji” shows that it looks like Mt. Fuji.

But today it’s snowing. Snow came this afternoon. I was so shocked that I didn’t take any photos today… *sigh
I hate snow!! It’s so dangerous to drive on the snow…

Curtain of the Clouds

One day, While driving back home, I noticed the sky was strange.
I rushed to Sakata-Kita(North) Port, because I wanted to watch with an open view.

Swans bring Winter

Mogami-gawa(Mogami River) is the largest river in Yamagata Prefecture, and Sakata is located in the river mouth of that river.
Numerous swans and ducks come from Siberia and stay here during winter. I knew swans squawk while flying only after coming to live in Sakata. They squawk even in the middle of the night…

When I hear their voices, I know winter is coming.

In the daytime, most of them has been away to rice fields to get foods. But when evening comes, they come back to the river mouth to rest.
